What Makes Will Hunting So Good?     A Film Analysis Through the Lens of Class   Will Hunting takes a break from his janitorial duties to solve a problem no one else can solve Film Synopsis. Good Will Hunting (1997), by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, is about a South Boston mathematical genius who is a broom-pusher at MIT.  Will, an orphan, grew up in foster homes and was physically abused as a child.  He solves math problems that Lambeau, a MIT professor, writes on a hallway chalkboard.
